Public Review of Voc Rehab Policy and Procedure Changes

Tennessee’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Program will be conducting public meetings to review VR Program Manual policy and procedure changes. The VR Program Manual is a written framework for providing vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities according to federal and state laws. Changes to the manual will affect the nature and scope of some VR services, informed choice, and financial need. Individuals who are interested in participating in the public review are invited to attend one of the meetings being held across the state. The meeting in Nashville is scheduied at the Tennessee School for the Blind, Professional Development Room, 115 Stewarts Ferry Pike.

Tennessee’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program is operated by the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) within the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). VR offers eligible individuals with disabilities vocational rehabilitation services that help participants prepare for, secure, retain or regain employment that is consistent with the individual's unique strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interest, and informed choice. Services are based on rehabilitation need and may include but not limited to counseling and guidance, training, rehabilitation technology, employment, services for the blind and visually impaired and the deaf and hard of hearing, and other related supports.
