10th Anniversary Breakfast

Click Here to Reserve Your Spot

Join us for a special morning to celebrate what we’ve accomplished together and to look ahead at the exciting work still to come. This event will help raise the vital funds needed to sustain and grow our mission. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to introduce new friends and community members to the heart of what we do at Our Place Nashville. Our community is filled with people who believe in this work and want to see it thrive, and this breakfast will be a chance to gather, be encouraged, and advocate together. We look forward to sharing our vision and continuing our mission of providing affordable housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This event will feature stories from our residents, our leadership, and featured community partners, including Dr. Anderson Spickard, Dean of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine and parent of an adult with disabilities. We will also honor Carolyn Naifeh for her ten years of dedicated service as co-founder and Executive Director of Our Place Nashville.

Keynote Speaker and Honoree

Keynote speaker-Dr. Anderson Spickard

Dean of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine and parent of an adult with disabilities, Dr Anderson Spickard will be our Keynote speaker for this event. Dr. Spickard earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MD from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. After joining Vanderbilt in 1995, he practiced internal medicine for 26 years.

Dr. Spickard played a pivotal role in medical education at Vanderbilt. As Vanderbilt School of Medicine’s first master clinical teacher, he mentored generations of medical students. He also pioneered the school’s electronic medical education content system and led the Office of Education Design and Informatics, transforming medical education and influencing institutions nationwide.

In 2021, Dr. Spickard joined Belmont University to help establish the Thomas F. Frist, Jr College of Medicine, serving as Associate Dean for Spiritual Growth and Development and Special Assistant to the President for Health. He became Interim Dean in 2022 and was appointed Dean in 2023. In this role, he brings extensive experience in patient care, education, research, and leadership to guide the new medical school.

As a professional who is part of the IDD community and navigating it’s many challenges as a parent and a practitioner, we are honored to have him deliver remarks.

Honoree-carolyn naifeh

We will be honoring Carolyn Naifeh, celebrating the ten years that she dedicated to the success of Our Place Nashville.

Before coming to Our Place, Carolyn had nearly 15 years of experience in international broadcasting and 20 years in non-profit management.  Her home base was in Washington, DC.  She worked there primarily with Voice of America, at Ford’s Theatre, and as a consultant with arts and education organizations, including the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the NEA Foundation and the Pearson Foundation.

Carolyn moved to Nashville in April 2013 to open a regional office for the Pujols Family Foundation.  After two years, she and Dr. Jaco Hamman spun their passion to provide affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities into a 501c3 non-profit organization.

As we reflect on the past ten years, we will celebrate and honor all that Carolyn has meant to Our Place Nashville, and the greater Nashville community.
