Volunteer at Our Place Nashville

With the growth that we have seen in 2023, we are looking for a handfull of volunteers in 2024 to help us fulfill our mission. Below are some of our immediate needs, as well as a few ongoing needs that we have throughout the year…

Meal Pick Up and Delivery

Our Place Nashville is supported by two amazing organizations - The Nashville Food Project and Support + Feed who make healthy and delicious meals for our community on a weekly basis. We need volunteers who can collect these meals and take them to the friendship houses on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This could be a once-off opportunity, but ideally we are looking for individuals who would be willing to deliver meals once a week or even once a month. Pickup is in the Nations, and drop off will be at the friendship houses in South Nashville. This will likely take you 1-2 hours, and pick up will be done on Tuesday and Thursdays around midday.

ClassES or Activity

Each week, our friends from all four houses gather together for fun and educational classes and activities to empower them on their journey of independence.

Some examples of classes that our friends enjoy are:

  • Workplace etiquette

  • Dating and relationships

  • Cooking

  • Music and dance

  • Cartooning

  • Understanding other cultures

  • Money management

If you have a particular skill or field of knowledge that you would like to teach to our group, please let us know below!

Transportation

Many of our friends are unable to drive or prefer not to drive in the evening/night hours. A transportation Volunteer helps with scheduled rides to and from planned events, or even with rides to work. If you signed up for this need, you would be put into a pool of pre-screened volunteers and would be able to sign up as needed and as you are available.

SOCIAL EVENTs

We love to create safe, fun and exciting outings for our friends on a regular basis. Do you want to plan a fun social event that creates an atmosphere of inclusion and fun? This could be a trivia night, a karaoke contest, a trip to the zoo, a waterfall hike or an evening of bingo at one of our friendship houses. If you aren’t able to attend in person but would like to help put on an event, you or your company could sponsor an event (sports game, top golf, a day at the water park) or help by supplying a lunch for the event.

Host a fundraiser

We could not do what we do without the support of the Nashville and nation-wide community of individuals, families, and businesses that care deeply for our friends. We are grateful for every bit of support that comes our way.

If you believe in the work of Our Place Nashville and would like to support us financially, we invite you to host a fundraiser or volunteer to lend your skills to our various fundraising efforts. You may want to raise funds within your own community (your church, workplace, family, neighborhood etc.) or help put on a public fundraising event for a larger community. No matter how large or small, we would love your support!
