Our Place Nashville’s Family Group meets virtually the first Tuesday of the month. January’s topic is How to Develop a Life Plan for your Child with Disabilities.
Life care planning is a blueprint for providing the economic security and services that someone with developmental disabilities will require in order to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible. It is an evolving document that assesses the supports that will be required, their cost, given the individual’s disabilities and desired lifestyle. The plan identifies government benefits for which the person may be eligible as well as a letter of intent containing medical, educational, and personal details to guide caregivers when parents have passed away. Importantly, the plan also includes a financial plan for supplementing publicly-provided services.
Tonight’s meeting focuses on the financial aspects of a life care plan. Guest speakers are both with Northwestern Mutual: Kacy Seitz, Wealth Management Advisor, and Kaci Fisher, Financial Representative.
