With the holiday shopping season in full swing, online shopping can be a scam minefield. With so much of our lives taking place online these days — including this class — there are a lot of ways we can find ourselves in digital quicksand. There are scams in video games. There are social media scams. There are criminals posing as our banks and credit card companies. Our email accounts can be hacked. The Better Business Bureau encourages everyone to stay safe while online and avoid being easy targets for online scammers. Tambry Brechon, the Regional Manager for the Better Business Bureau of Middle Tennessee, will be our special guest tonight, conducting a class on internet safety and touching on hacking and other scams that occur on the internet. If there are specific areas that participants would like more information on, we can schedule a class early in 2022 to focus on topics of special concern to you.
