Pierre Dulaine first saw ballroom dancing as a 14-year-old in Birmingham, England. Scraping together his earnings for lessons, he practiced his newfound passion and shifted from awkward teen to winning every major ballroom award. In 1994, he started Dancing Classrooms, a non-profit that has taught over 500,000 public school children the joyful art and practice of social dance, cultivating essential life skills in the process. There have been two documentaries on Pierre's work — Mad Hot Ballroom and Dancing in Jaffa — as well as one feature film, Take the Lead, in which Antonio Banderas plays the role of Pierre. Pierre will talk with us about the art of respect through ballroom dancing. (FYI: In 2014, Pierre spent a week in Nashville to lead a ballroom dance camp for individuals with Down syndrome.) Class meets on Zoom from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Contact [Carolyn Naifeh](mailto:carolyn.naifeh@ourplacenashville.org) for more information.
