Prevention - Staying Safe from Traffickers

  • Easley Community Center 1000 Edgehill Avenue Nashville, TN 37203 (map)

End Slavery Tennessee describes their work this way:

You may think slavery ended after the Civil War. Think again. There are more slaves now than at any time in history. Today’s slaves are forced into labor, service or sex slavery to make money for their exploiters. Selling people can be even less risky than selling drugs, and the same person can be sold 10, 20 or more time a day, creating quite the profit.

One of the services End Slavery Tennessee provides to our community is to explain the problem to people in the hope of preventing the problem from occurring in the first place. For the young adult with a developmental disability who puts him/herself in danger by meeting a stranger from online or going to a bar on lower Broadway alone? This class can support the argument that such behaviors are not safe.
