Two of our Friendship House residents — Steven Greiner and Zach Sutton — will lead a class on the rewards of volunteering, both for the volunteer and for the community. Steven is our busiest volunteer, spending multiple days each week at Saddle Up! and GiGi’s Playhouse, both non-profits that serve children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He also is the first Next Steps at Vanderbilt alumnus to serve as an Ambassadore peer mentor to two current Next Steps students. In April, Mayor David Briley presented Steven with the 2018 Award for Young Citizen from the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities for his service to the community. Zach Sutton, known as “The Car Guy” in his native Murfreesboro because of his love for and knowledge about cars, volunteers at the Lane Motor Museum, showing that you can be happy and do good at the same time.
